Dr. Boehne

Dr. Boehne (pronounced Bay-nee) is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Being a native of Dana Point and graduate of Dana Hills High School, he takes pride in providing world class endodontic care for his local community.  He earned his Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences at the UC Irvine.  He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the UCLA School of Dentistry.  Upon graduation he was the recipient of both the Comprehensive Patient Care and the Outstanding Performance in Endodontics Awards.

Dr. Boehne practiced general dentistry in South Orange County for several years, where he gained valuable experience in comprehensive restorative dentistry as well as endodontics.  He taught endodontics at the UCLA School of Dentistry during this time. Then he completed two additional years of  post-doctoral specialty training in endodontics at the VA hospital in Long Beach.  He has been in private practice limited to endodontics ever since.

Dr. Boehne is a part-time teacher at the UCLA School of Dentistry.  He is the co-creator of Endodontic Technique, the instructional video that is the endodontic foundation for dental students at UCLA.  Dr. Boehne’s clinical cases have been featured in multiple endodontic textbooks, and he is a featured author for multiple endodontics text books including Termeie’s Best Practices in Dentistry: Avoiding and Treating Complications and Torabinejad’s Management of Endodontics Complications.  Dr. Boehne is a Key Opinion Leader for Sonendo.

Prior to his career in dentistry, Dr. Boehne earned international recognition as a surfboard shaper and designer.  He has been featured in articles in Surfing, Surfer and Transworld Surf magazines.  Surfers have won many accolades riding his surfboards including three Surfer Poll Awards for the best surfing in the world and an ISA world title.

Dr. Boehne enjoys providing dental care to communities in need at home and abroad.  He has led multiple humanitarian dental mission trips to Mexico, French Polynesia and Indonesia; places that he grew up visiting on surf trips. He happily provides endodontic care for multiple charitable organizations at home including Safe Families, The Orangewood Children’s Foundation, Smile on U, and The Friendship Shelter.

In 2009, UC Irvine honored Dr. Boehne with the Lauds and Laurels Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award for his contributions to dentistry, education and philanthropy. He was named one of the top 40 Under 40 dentists by Incisal Edge magazine in 2017.
